So What Is Aromatherapy?

As the word Aromatherapy suggests, it is the art of putting in use the essential oils obtained from aromatic plants and herbs to get the remedial effect and improvement of beauty and well being of the individuals.

Prior to 1920s nobody was aware of the term Aromatherapy as such. A French chemist Ren? Maurice Gattefoss? accidentally discovered the healing properties of essential oils and coined the term Aromatherapy later on.

Actual history of the use of the essential oils can be traced back to ancient Egyptians and Indians. Egyptians used the essential oils to embalm the dead bodies while Indians and some other civilizations used the essential oils to get the remedial effects against pain relief with great success. There are many ways to extract essential oils from the plants, but the most popular method being distillation through alcohol, as this is a very simple method and alcohol is freely available.

The application of aromatherapy mainly practiced in three ways:
1. by inhalation
2. by topical application and
3. by oral intake

Inhalation is the fastest to react and provide the necessary remedial effect for the respiratory disinfection, decongestion and expectoration etc. The molecules of the volatile essential oils get in contact with the olfactory nerves located in the upper part of the inner nose. After that these molecules are carried to the brain in the limbic system. Limbic system of the brain remains always in contact with the part of the brain which controls rate of heart beats, blood pressure, breathing, hormonal balance and stress level control etc. The molecules cause the secretion of certain biochemicals to affect our mood, state of mind or trigger the remedial effect. To get the best results from the inhaling method the essential oils are either spread on a tissue or added to the water for bath or defused in a vaporizer.

Topical application is used for the general massage, baths, compresses, therapeutic skin care, rectal, vaginal interfaces for infection, congestion, parasites etc. Most of the essential oils are not greasy and gets readily absorbed by the skin. The route of the absorption is usually through the hair follicles and sweat gland openings from there they travel to the blood stream and reach to the affected part of the body. These oils not only kill the viruses and the bacteria but at the same time they strengthen the immune system of the body to prevent further attack and start a speedy recovery process. Each essential oil has distinct set of properties and benefits. The essential oils are applied to the skin always in diluted form since the application of raw essential oil can harm you. The dilution is achieved by mixing appropriate quantity of raw essential oil in carrier oil. It is always better for the people with delicate or sensitive skin to test the reactivity of the essential oils before starting the application.

Oral intake is practiced rarely as some of the essential oils are toxic in nature and besides that intake of raw oils may harm you therefore it is advisable that if you are going to opt for the oral intake, then it should be done under the expert supervision only. Generally oral application of the essential oils is done for the problems relating to the denture and gums and the oils used are clove, tea tree, myrrh, thyme and peppermint.

There are host of benefits from the aromatherapy which you can avail during your normal day to day life. First of them is the aromatherapy bath, it is a very pleasant and soothing way to relax your tired and overstressed bodies. The essential oil present in the water cleans up the pores of the skin and allows it to breathe naturally and relaxes the muscles too. The next inline is the aromatherapeutic massage it doubles up the benefit of the massage and aromatherapy. The massage revitalizes and stimulates the organs while the essential oil gets penetrated deep inside into the blood stream to clear the toxins out.

There is one more plus point of aromatherapy; it does not offer any side effect as compared to the conventional medications. May be that is the reason more and more people are coming under aromatherapy. Its popularity has grown to immensely in the recent time so as it has been accepted as one of the alternative medicine in many countries.

Neuromuscular Massage: What Exactly Is It?

If you have been in a work related accident in the past or have been living with pain for decades now, maybe you need to learn what’s involved with this specific branch of massage specialty.

While massage in general may be used for relaxation…NMT or Neuromuscular massage is designed especially to help you deal with your pain. Most of us don’t think much about our nervous systems. We tend to take them for granted. But they actually have a direct impact on not only the amount of tension in our muscles…but the amount of pain that we can actually endure.
Whereas a run of the mill “relaxation” massage will work on the general areas of your back…NMT is a deep tissue massage that addresses individual specific muscles, ligaments, connective tissue & tendons that are often would never be addressed in a usual relaxation type of massage.

First the client will sit in a a chair specifically made for receiving massages. Thumbs, fingertips and elbows are the tools of choice for the massage therapist to explore every fiber tissue looking for bands of muscle fibers that are tighter than the the others. Sometimes people ask why a therapist is working “over there” when it seems to hurt “over here”. This is known as “Referred Pain”. For example: Addressing a stressed trigger point in your back…could help release pain in your shoulder or even alleviate pounding headaches.

Think about it. This means that your neuromuscular therapist must be profficient in Several disciplines including:
The physiology of the bodies nervous system
Its relation on the muscular and skeletal systems.
Is educatedin the field of kinesiology
Is skilled in biomechanics
Is schooled in how to work in a clinical or medical environment

What Are The Benefits Of Neuromuscular Massage?

Neuromuscular Therapy will be used to address each of the five elements that cause pain in everyone of us:
Ischemia: We discussed a bit about this one already. Isechemia is basically a deficiency of blood supply to soft tissues which results in hypersensitivity to touch.

Trigger Points: These are highly aggrevated points in muscles, which refer pain to other parts of the body. Previously we discussed about how relaxing a trigger point in your left upper back could relax or stop those horrible throbbing headaches. (Even though you might not have connected the two together before)

Nerve Compression: This is basically strain on a nerve caused by any of the following:

* Soft tissue
* Cartilage
* Bone

Postural Distortion: This is an imbalance of the muscular system as a result of the movement of the body off the longitudinal and horizontal planes. This is a another way of explaining your body every now and then needs a muscle alignment just like your car needs one after hitting too many potholes!

Biomechanical Dysfunction: This corresponds to the imbalance of the muscular skeletal system due to bad habits like these:

* Poor lifting habits
* Incorrect golf swing
* Awful tennis stroke
* Incorrect typing posture

Self Healing - Is Our Body Get Self Healed?

Your body is self-healing. Consider a broken bone. If you break a bone, a doctor doesn?t heal it, he will set it then put a cast on it. You are then given medicine to ward off infection and to kill pain.

But your body heals the bone by mending it. You must supply the nutrition that it uses to do this.

You body can heal a scratch, a cut, a burn and even a cold or flu. Medications taken for these problems are used to help kill bacteria and to make you more comfortable.

Our lymphatic system is filled with t-cells, macrophages and many white blood cells to help kill bacteria, viruses and neutralize toxins. This is our own personal immune system and is evidence that the body is self-healing.

Problems arise when our immune system becomes either weak or attacks itself. Constant inflammation from chemicals, drugs and other environmental toxins over-burden and overwhelm our systems. This in turn can lead to chronic disease.

When we eat junk food or over eat foods such as meat and breads, it doesn?t get digested and removed efficiently. It becomes toxic so our body?s response is to defend itself by excreting extra mucus in the small intestine. When this happens repeatedly, the mucus builds up with the partially digested food and now we have a buildup of waste or a plaque lining.

This is why colon cleansing and detoxing are so important. As we take responsibility for our health and ease the burden to the body, our immune system becomes free to work as it should.

Some doctors will tell you that while the body is self-healing, it is also meant to detox or cleanse itself ? and it is. However, your organs of elimination cannot work properly if they are over-loaded. As the buildup makes the body sluggish, the liver and gall bladder cannot dump the bile and waste because is has nowhere to send it to.

Normally, much of this toxic bile and waste would be sent to the small intestine, the colon then out. But if the small intestine is partially blocked while at the same time being bombarded on a regular basis with over-eating, junk food or more chemicals, it slows down. There is simply no place to “dump” the waste. As this waste accumulates, your body must now focus all attention on keeping you alive. If it must do this in a state of sickness, it will.

It’s much like this; if you set your hand on a table and pour a little dirt on it, you will pick up your hand and shake it off. But if you put 10 pounds of dirt on your hand, you need help removing it. There is nothing wrong with your hand, but you need to get the weight off if you want full use of it.

Our organs and immune system are very strong when we are young. But as the years go on toxins do accumulate. If you want full use of your body and its healing abilities, you must help it clear the old waste and build-up. When you accomplish this, you will find that the body is self-healing and you are stronger than you may have previously thought.

Despite the fact that 75% of women and a large percentage of men suffer from yeast infections, many are still reluctant to visit their doctors. Many traditional remedies concentrate on treating the symptions rather than the cures as a result more and more sufferers are looking to natural and holistic cures.

Yeast infections when being discussed by the medical profession are also referred to as Candida. All forms of these kinds of infections are caused by various different groups of microscopic fungi or yeast being able to attack the body. Although adults may suffer from yeast infections of the mouth they are much more susceptible to this kind of infection as they grow older especially if they wear dentures. But a lot of the yeast infections that adults and babies suffer from are very superficial and can be easily treated.

But there are a few cases of yeast infection, although these are very rare and which given the chance can affect the whole body. In such cases as these the mortality rate is very high. Often only 1 in 4 people who suffer from such an infection are likely to be treated and cured. So even if you suffer from an infection to the mouth or genital area if left untreated can be come extremely complicated and dangerous and normal medications will not be able to treat it.

Certainly the biggest problem we face today when it comes to yeast infections, even though diagnosing it is easy, is what has actually caused it to occur in the first place. There are many different things which can cause an infection to happen for example a person who has been taking antibiotics for another kind of infection may develop a yeast infection. This is because unfortunately their immune system has become comprised and so they do not have sufficient antibodies in their body to be able to fight of the yeast fungi as it begins to multiply.

Over recent years there have been developments in the natural and holistic cures for yest infections and which are now readily available. But the great thing about these types of cures is that they work on treating the root cause of the infection and so help to prevent the yeast infection from occurring initially. Organic Juices For Constipation

Organic fresh made juices have cleansing and laxative action, which will help you eliminate constipation. Taken regularly they will help you have daily bowel movements.

Organic juices contain loads of mineral, bioflavonoids, vitamins, enzymes, antioxidants, and other nutrients. Citric fruits have citric acid and the more tart they are the more acid they have.

Fresh juice is a fast way to get all types of nutrients into the blood quickly. As juice nutrients get into your blood, they suck out toxics and build up tissues. In your colon they destroy bad bacteria, feed wall tissue, pull out toxins, and have laxative action.

Even though juices provide helpful action throughout the body, it is best to limit their use and drink them in larger quantities only when trying to accomplish certain health benefits.

If you use natural foods with laxative effects, their laxative effect diminishes after long-term use.

If you have diabetes or adrenal fatigue, limit your use of fruits and juices when you first wake up in the morning. However, exercise in the morning will help you tolerate drinking some juices in the morning
